Chili Cookoff

Information for Contestants

Note that we are no longer accepting entries as we are full.

Set up will be from 12-1 pm. By 1 pm, all vehicles will need to be moved from the park. There will be no parking down at the park. The Protectors of Elizabeth event begins at 2 pm. We have set aside chili tasting from 2-6 pm. This will allow everyone time to get set up and heat up their chili. We are asking everyone to bring their own EZ up tent, table(s), and chairs. We will provide electricity for plugging in crockpots or you may bring a propane heat source. We recommend bringing an extension cord if you plan to use electricity. We will provide each contestant with tasting cups and spoons. Please plan to bring a ladle for serving and a crockpot/pot for keeping warm. You are welcome to bring more supplies if you’d like! We recommend making at least 3-5 gallons of chili. 

This year we will have a voting ballot that each taster will receive with their tasting tickets. There will be places to drop their voting ballot throughout the event. The Elizabeth Firefighters Foundation will be giving 5 tasting tickets for every $5 donation. The idea behind the tasting tickets is to avoid people getting numerous samples and our contestants running out of chili too quickly. Please collect a tasting ticket before giving a sample. 

The chili tasting will begin at 2 pm with the event. Chili votes will be collected at 6 pm and the top 3 chili winners will be announced at 6:30 pm. We will be making announcements throughout the event so voters understand when they need to have their ballots in. There will be prizes for the top 3 chilies!
